Nuke Technical Director
We are looking for a Nuke Technical Director with strong production compositing experience to help bridge the gap between artists and pipeline. This is a comp centric role, ideal for someone who has worked hands on as a compositor and understands the realities of shot work in a fast paced production environment. The Nuke TD will partner closely with both the compositing and pipeline teams to improve workflows, develop tools, troubleshoot complex issues, and help ensure our comp processes are stable, efficient, and scalable across shows.
Comp – Pipe Interface
Be the primary technical liaison between the Comp team and Pipe department
Translate comp team needs into clear, actionable pipeline requests
Help the pipe team understand real-world comp workflows, bottlenecks, and priorities
Evaluate pipe updates and changes for comp impact before rollout
Workflow & Process Stabilization and Efficiency
Assess existing compositing workflows and identify instability, inefficiencies, or fragility
Standardize comp templates, scripts, gizmos, and node structures where beneficial
Help define best practices for:
Shot setup and ingest
Render I/O and versioning
Color management
Multi-pass / multi-AOV workflows
Help ensure comp workflows are consistent, and efficient
Tooling & Technical Support (Comp-Centric)
Develop, maintain, or oversee:
Nuke tools, gizmos, and scripts
Show-specific comp utilities
Shot diagnostics and debugging tools
Troubleshoot complex comp issues (broken scripts, slowness, farm errors)
Artist Communication & Knowledge Sharing
Be a technical mentor for senior and mid-level compositors
Provide documentation, walkthroughs, and informal/structured training on new tools and workflows
Reduce band-aid fixes by communicating standard workflows
Requirements:
Highly experienced with Nuke. Knowledge of other compositing, finishing & editorial tools a plus.
Strong knowledge of compositing workflows and other aspects of post-production.
Strong knowledge and ability in perspective, photography, and physics of light and motion.
CG experience a plus.
Comparable software experience considered.
At least three years of relevant professional tv/film experience.
College level diploma or higher in computer graphics, fine arts, design, or photography, or related field; OR at least five years of relevant professional VFX experience in lieu of education.
Nuke experience (in real production pipeline)

Coding for Comp (python)
Deep understanding of:
Compositing workflows
Color pipelines (OCIO, ACES)
Able to speak for both “artist” and “pipe”
Collaborative in a flexible fast paced environment (hybrid studio)
