Production Manager

Production Manager (PMs) are key partners with the VFX Producer and critical members of show leadership, primarily acting as the owner of project scheduling and the central link between the planning and execution of the project. The PM reports to the Producer daily on show specific tasks and for production and artist management, supporting Producer duties as needed.


Objectives:

  • In collaboration with Producer and Supervisors, create overall show schedule across all disciplines and external vendors.

  • Oversee implementation of schedule by guiding and directing coordinators, Supervisors and leads as needed.

  • \Work closely with shows and company leadership on day-to-day crew needs as required.

  • Act as liaison between client-side Production team and Distillery Production team.

  • With the Producer, manage the production crew on a daily basis including directing Coordinators and any Production Assistants to ensure all show needs are met.

  • With input from Supervisors and VFX Producer, proactively identify and plan for work to be outsourced. Help identify vendors appropriate for the work. Prepare vendor bidding packages, contribute to vendor cost analysis and reporting as needed.

  • Proactively problem-solve and raise concerns in all aspects of show, client, and vendor relations.

  • Assist as liaison with vendors for technical and creative issues that arise to ensure work stays on schedule and optimal workflow is adhered to.

  • In partnership with show leadership and the systems team, facilitate overall setup of Project (“Show”) pipeline and toolsets to leverage and evolve company standards.

  • Evaluate and learn individual artist strengths to help develop cross utilization of resources to promote an effective workflow.

  • Act as default production leader when Producer is out of office or otherwise engaged and direct ‘2nd lieutenant’ level duties with the production crew.

  • In partnership with Producer, manage show reporting to make sure work is on schedule and budget.

  • Manage client contact when Producer is absent or unavailable.

  • Supervise, delegate, and consult on creation of training plan for Production Coordinator(s) and Production Assistant(s).

  • Help shape and define company standard workflows for production

  • Manage data and communication flow to and from client


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Film or related field or equivalent work experience required.

  • 5 years work experience in production management to include strong working knowledge of Visual Effects techniques and terminology.

  • Must possess very strong organizational and communication skills and be able to handle a variety of tasks in an efficient manner while meeting deadlines.

  • Proficiency with PCs and Macs, software including Microsoft Word and Excel; MS Project or other Project management software a plus.

  • Adept at Autodesk Shotgrid software.

  • This position may require some overtime.

  • Ability to work on a computer/keyboard for long periods of time.

  • Majority in-studio work, optional remote days available
